(prcenter.de) Cologne - Germany deals with natural resources substantially more economically than most other industrialized countries. Again by Institut of the German economy Cologne (IW) occupies developed environmental efficiency indicator. With the comparison of the water consumption, the emissions among other things of greenhouse gases and nitrogen oxides as well as the energy consumption in relation to the gross domestic product Ireland cuts off best and obtains therefore the indicator value 100. Germany follows with 90 points on the sieved place and leaves thereby different large national economies behind itself. Thus the USA reserve seat 23 by 30 examined countries with an indicator value of 63 only.
In the past years the environmental efficiency in Germany besides within almost all ranges clearly improved. A Erfolgsstory is above all the topic air quality. Thus for example for each unit gross domestic product in the meantime only half as many nitrogen oxides are emitted as 1991. With sulfur dioxide the specific emissions decreased/went back even by 88 per cent. These reductions continued in the rest of also after the quiet putting or modernization of the former GDR industrial plants.
